"The youngest rank of the Order, they are both brillant and stupid. They use all their intelligence to understand magic, yet it takes them years to perfect it."
Azugon on the Mages

Mage is a rank within the Magical Beings that one magical person must undertake within their training. This section is long and requires much knowlage and reading rather than praticing magic itself. Although they do use magic in this section, by trying to master the elements.

Overview[]

Throughout the early history of the Order of Magical Beings, the role of a mage changed drastically as new rules have applied over the course of history.

During the times of Jafier Heartan, a mage would take on numerous challenges and tasks without the assistance of a master or mentor. The old king believed this would help the youth master their skills over the use of magic at a young age.

Using the term Mage to denote their position as a student, few of these students become great Wizards and Witches themselves. Although if they are not trained effectivley they can fall under what is named a Vale. A place where many fallen magical beings have fell due to weakness within magic.

Wizards and Witches were restricted to taking only one student at a time. This was to ensure that the one student under training would be able to seek training from the one master, and not worry about falling behind if the other student from the same master gained more assistance than them.

Some Mages can progress faster than others depending on their mental abilities and understanding of knowlage. Reading and learning about new things is the best way a mage can progess to their next stage. But landing the next level does not always mean advancing to Sorcerer, but to advance to a more skilled set of magical abilities.

Selection[]

Throughout the history of the Order of Magical Beings, selection of Mages has changed based on the state of the academy and its Grand Wizard. Many times rules of age groups have changed. The academy would never take on anyone older than the age of ten, up until the Grand Wizard Orismac found Moreusico, where the rule was abandoned. Upon the rule of Grand Wizard Azugon, the rule changed yet again and the youngest mage to be accepted was at the age of five.

When a mage passes the test to become a member of the Order, they must speak and take questions and tests of sorts, depending on what the Grand Wizard gives them. If they fail they will be discharged and may applie again within the next year, unless they are over the age limit for their rank, if they are they will never gain access to the academy. This has also proven to be torublesome over the past few hundred years before the academy was destoryed, when numours exiled, and failed mages became dark and corrupted.

Training[]

A mage accompanied their Master everywhere, unless seen unfit by the master, from simple tasks to dangerous missions, so that they learned from experience and personal guidance.

Before the rule was changed by several Grand Wizards, mages continuing their studies outside of the Academy where they had previously spent their entire life, the transition was sometimes difficult. Depending

on their master's specialization, a mage would receive assignments from not only their own masters, but others as well.

Mages typically maintained the  partnership with their masters for the entire time of their magehood, and can go up untill they reach wizard or witch. Mages take classes at the academy, in which they share a room with fellow mages, learning from a Witch or Wizard.

If a master wishes, they can take their mage with the aproval of the Grand Wizard out onto personal tasks. However this sometimes is rare as many do not leave the acadmey. But there has been few cases where this has happened.

Mages are not allowed their own staff at this point in their training, but they are taught how to use them and study how they work throughout certain classes. A mage must name every part of the staff, and how to construct one using the proper equipment.

When a master thought that they had taught everything they could, they contacted the Council to set up a time for their student to take an advanced test, where they will see if they are in fact ready to progress to the next stage. This test is called the Selection, in where the mage will be tested both mentally and physically.

Clothing[]

Like all Magical Beings, Mages were expected to wear standard robes as representatives of the entire Order. The standard is the wear the proper colours to show their rank and progress: brown, white, blue or

gray tunic, pants, and robes, with the addition of a leather belt and boots.

The most distinguishing addition to the attire of a mage is the hood in which they wear almost all the time, unless they are reading, working or without need of it. Also around their waist they may have small packs which can hold small things such as books, quills, ink, potions and more. These packs assist them through their training and can become rather useful in certain circumstances.

Mages can also forge a necklace which they can either keep on their self, or store away. These necklace can have prints of their names, and hold family gems. Many of these jewels can help the mages in many other ways. When they reach their necromancer stage, they may enchant the necklace and mend it to their own will. But throughout their time as mage, they may only toy and experiment with it.

Magic Categories[]

A mage can only studey within the element stage, but there are many sections throughout this stage. While they all focus on the same skills, they are broken into several sections so that a mage can learn and study on their chosen stage. They must perfect all of these before taking the Selection Program

  • Offensive: To gain power over the elements.
  • Defensive: To be able to defend against unfriendly spells
  • Agressive: To learn how to use the spells with power
  • Progressive: Advancing and experimenting on the current element on their choosing.
